About Efficient Microbes
Our Rawbiotics range of products is manufactured by Efficient Microbes (Pty) Ltd, which is a private South African company formed in 2006. Efficient Microbes products are based on groundbreaking microbial technology developed in the USA, in 1998. Efficient Microbes imports live, liquid mother-cultures from which all of the various ranges are then produced. The range of Rawbiotics products was launched by Efficient Microbes in 2017 with the aim of providing fermented, non-freeze-dried probiotics to the human health market.

What Are Rawbiotics?
Rawbiotics are a range of fermented liquid probiotics containing live and active beneficial cultures.
The difference between Rawbiotics and regular freeze-dried probiotics is that, rather than growing individual strains which are freeze-dried and put in a capsule, Rawbiotics products contain 12 strains of probiotic bacteria which are grown together at body temperature.
This creates strong groups of beneficial microbes which are self-supporting and survive well in any environment into which they are introduced, resulting in a very active and effective probiotic formula.
What Makes Rawbiotics' Product Range Unique?
- 12 Strains: Rawbiotics products contain the widest range of live probiotic cultures.
- No refrigeration necessary: Since Rawbiotics products are produced through natural fermentation, the live cultures are self-supporting and do not need to be refrigerated to survive. Rawbiotics products have a minimum 2 year shelf-life.
- Not just a Probiotic: In addition to probiotic cultures, Rawbiotics products contain the by-products of fermentation such as antioxidants and vital enzymes needed for digestion.
- Strong Steriliser: Another by-product of fermentation is lactic acid; a powerful sterilising compound that prevents the growth of many disease-causing bacteria and viruses.
- Survives Stomach Acid: Since Rawbiotics cultures form self-supporting groups and a lactic acid environment, they survive stomach acid and the journey to the gut far better than cultures that are grown as single strains. It is for this reason that billions of Colony Forming Units (CFUs) are not needed in order for enough bacteria to reach the gut.
